A Dec. 14 auction in Whitley County, Ind., saw 123 acres of cropland and recreational land sell for an average of $4,228 an acre. The farm was located 4 1/2 miles southwest of Columbia City. It was offered as four tracts but sold as two.
Tract 1 consisted of 36 acres with Eel River frontage on the north border. It contained 8 tillable acres with the balance in timber. That property sold for $4,027 an acre.
Tracts 2 - 4 featured 87 acres with about 76 acres tillable. The balance was timber with some river frontage. It sold for $4,310 an acre.
