An Oct. 28 auction saw 65 acres of Lee County, Iowa, farmland sell for $8,900 an acre. The land was part of a 321-acre offering located just north of West Point. The 65-acre tract had 57 tillable acres and 7 acres of timber. The tillable acres carried a CSR2 of 63.7 versus the county average CSR2 of 53.7.
An 83-acre tract brought $5,300 an acre. It had 51.5 tillable acres and 28 acres of timber. It carried a soil CSR2 of 51.9.
A 97-acres piece sold for $7,050 an acre. It has 82 tillable acres and a CSR2 of 58.7.
A 76-acre piece of mostly timber brought $1,100 at the auction. The offering had only 9 acres of cropland and 65 acres of timber. Auction manager John Yeomans, AFM, Farmers National Company, Iowa City, 319-644-8092, explains the bulk of the timber on the offer had been harvested recently.
